This was not meant to be anything against XPPE or BartPE...
I still use my old ones for what I built them for. Testing hardware
and data recovery with my OWN Nero...

Other than the "no included OS" limitation, (a significant drawback
if the target system is not running properly), the flashdrive based
programs are generally easier to auto update, and more "user friendly"
to the masses...

Other than NOT bringing your own OS, I noticed there were a lot
of similarities with the "auto insert" use of a BartPE or XPPE
CD when used in a system _already_booted_ to ITS OWN OS...
(NOT the OS on the XPPE or BartPE CD.)

I asked more to "spread the word" about U3... I had only
heard of it slightly, and happened to get it on a drive I got
for my wife when one of hers "blew out*" at work...
(I liked it and kept it for myself, and replaced hers with one
exactly like hers since it is likely her work machines are too
locked down to be much use with U3 or the Lexar version...

(Actually, Lexar says that might not be a problem with theirs...)

*Speaking of Lexar -- Lexars really do "burn out":

I am hoping you know what U3 is <grin>

I don't see what all the excitement is as I have converted a few apps
from my XpPe builds to run stand alone on my USB flash drive
already & of course the first one was Total Commander.
