the problem computer is about 4 yrs old - she got it when she started
college. I'm guessing it's USB1.1 and if i understand correctly, the
signal tends to be worse on usb1.1. She gets low signal stregth but my
daughter gets full power on her laptop (built in wifi) in the same
room. If i were there, i would test the usb on the laptop to see if it
did better... but it takes too much effort to help them over the
phone. <g> At least she didn't buy an adapter and find out it was less
than satisfactory.

they wanted to avoid wires running all around, but it's just too
unrealiable at this point.. and they'll need to run wire for the cable
anyway.
