Lots of missing detail about your problem, most notably, version of Windows.

Does that re-install appear to complete successfully?

If it's Windows XP or 2000:
1. Did you boot the Windows XP CD in order to re-install?
2. Did you delete all partitions and create a new one from the XP setup
routine?
3. Did you choose to format the partition with NTFS from the XP setup
routine?
4. Did you NOT choose the "quick" format when selecting format in (2)?

Correct answer to the 4 questions above is "yes". If you said "no" to any
question, go back and try again.

If you are unsuccessful when answering "yes" to all questions, then the hard
drive has probably gone bad, or there is there a cable/connection problem to
the drive, or there is a failure of the hard drive controller.

Subject: Boot Partition

My laptop has decided not to boot and shows an error message "boot partition
missing or corrupt", I believe this is a bug issue but am not sure how to
rectify it. Re-install windows does not solve the prob, nor does
reformatting.

Discussion or solutions would be most welcome.

TIA
