Yes -
I wasn't saying that there was no problem with memory conflict - that's why
I asked if the devices were certified for use with windows XP
If they are, then the certification should indicate that there will be no
problem, or...
the MS certification process was not properly adhered to, or is flawed -
either way MS, and the manufacturer should be told.
If your PSU is rated at 400watts, I'd certainly want to limit the load to
350watts (and certainly not above 90% of the rated loading on each supply
line) - and not more than 80% if the PSU is not one of a very good
pedigree - see Toms Hardware tests of PSU, and probably a set of tests
detailing memory power usage.
The amount of power used by memory can be quite surprising. - and remember
the 400Watts is the sum of the lesser limits on each supply line - so a
50watt load on an unexpected line could exceed the PSU limits.
The comment re plug-in board concurrency was to indicate that you may
benefit from add-in controllers providing they are able to function in the
new mode, and the board has appropriate connections - but then again the
integrated controller/connections may already be functioning concurrently at
the higher speed.
