But here's a caveat as quoted from the site:

"Please keep in mind that any of the duration/time values listed here are
completely relative. The only way to effectively compare speed values is to use
the exact same machine, and with the same processes running in the background.
It is nearly impossible to test non-Windows operating systems in this manner
because you would introduce too many new variables (operating system, total CPU
load, etc.) -- for this reason, I have not tested Safari."

My take is that I personaly would not take this test to be a valid test for not
only the reason stated above since then I would automaticaly conclude that the
test is biased against non-windows OS in favor of WIndows OS. The test doesn't
mention which Windows OS its been tested on consistantly across a sample set of
different platforms (Intel, AMD). Why did he test only javascript and not other
scripting languages? Why not also test XML, .NET? This test is also biased
against those languages too. Why not test download and upload streams? Surely
this is one area where speed is of the most importance especialy when DL pages
to the browser itself.

It did no mention in the test wether or not the tester in question was using a
56K POTS, DSL, CABLE 100mbp ethernet or satilite connection which would be
another obvious test of speed capability here for testing browsers. Test did
not account for
DL cache size and refresh and update latency, Qos applications and Qos bandwith
useage in Qos applications. This test is so full of gaps and holes that I can
make a swiss cheese sandwich out of it! Yes pun intended.

IMHO I think its not impossible to test the browsers in the manner described
above.
Just get one of each PC platorm an Intel, AMD and Apple. Install the same or
closely
similar hardware, HD, Video card, NIC and Router, motherboard as possibly can
all with the same default configuration.

Install Windows XP PRO SP2 on both the Intel and AMD platforms and MAC OS X
(The new Macintel pc) on the apple. Install the same browsers on both the Intel
and AMD platforms and on the MAC with the same configuration (With Windows XP
PRO SP2).
If the tester took the time to do this then he can compare and publish the
final results of the test on these platforms among the browsers themselves only
then would I be satisfied that the test would be a non-biased and conclusive
test of browser performance and throughput.

You can compare your browsers' JavaScript execution
speed here: http://celtickane.com/projects/jsspeed.php

Opera 9.0 was way faster than either IE6 or Firefox 1.5.
