If its wireless - new batteries. Good clean wouldn't hurt
How about a reboot - any different?
If it's an LED/IR mouse (no ball) don't use it on patterned surfaces like strip
wood effect counter top or grainy desk tops as it gets confused by the differing
reflections - try it on a piece of plain paper.
