Win98 will NOT recognise or boot from NTFS...
"That" is the problem...
That and the fact the boot loader and/or the drive overlay
are possibly "also" gone...

I would try (if you can borrow one) a good NON-distructive
partitioning program to switch the Win98 drive back to Fat32...

After that, there may be other repairs to be made...

A friend brought me his Dell 166 computer.

He then used partition magic 8 on the maxtor, to make it an ntsf drive, and thats when all the problems started.
