Make sure your Background Intelligent Tranfser Service is running in the
Services section under Administrative Tools. That has created problems for
me in the past, but I am on XPHome.

Subject: strange update behaviour

Newly installed Win XPPro (sp2) VLK computer, went to MS update site, 66
updates, selected them all, around installing update 23 (dunno which one
specifically), all additional updates showed as failed. The autoupdate icon
in the system tray showed the same updates ready for installation, told it
to

go ahead, all failed again (around 29), rebooted and tried again several
times, same problem, somewhere along the way on shutdown, it gave the choice
to shutdown and install updates, did that at least 4 times and got most of
the updates installed, now go back to windows update site, still 8 more
critical updates, same failure message when trying to install all 8 as a
group or individually.

The only other software on the machine is NAVCE 8.1. We just got Client
Security 3.xx but won't be able to deploy that for a few weeks.

Any ideas on what the heck is going on? I've not seen anything quite like
this before. I've seen discussions on failing updates on list, but not quite
like this....

The current updates that are failing are
