DBX folders - some of mine are over 200Mb - no problems except an apparent
pause when I open them
I certainly wouldn't expect any problems until they reach 1GB level
That is - except for memory (real or virtual) to hold them and any indexes
etc that OE wanted.
You may get disk space problems when compressing them as OE seems to want to
create the replacement(workingfile) as the same size as the original, then
reduce the space to whatever is needed for the packed version, before
deleting the original file
there is a 2Gb, and a 4GB limit that applies to some software, and a 4Gb
limit on all files in a FAT format partition
Losing fielders and rules -
That, to me implies problems at the user-profile level, registry entries, or
OE control files rather than the email storage dbx files themselves
Are the dbx files deleted, emptied, corrupted, or just not included in the
OE presented folders structure
If the files are just not shown in the structure - then you should be able
to copy them to another location, and import them from that location.
otherwise there are programs such as dbxtract to extract/manipulate
individual messages while OE is not running.
Considering the Dual Boot -
Each OS Completely contained within the respective partition - and not
sharing any OE, or IE locations, workspaces Temp Tmp or other storage areas
Not using hibernate/sleep
re not opening the big 'sent items' - is the current one actually something
like "sent items1"
I'm puzzled about the current one not showing new items - but showing items
sent prior to November last year
that seems to indicate that an old profile has been resurrected - have you
inadvertently logged on using an old userid, or let the OS do a rollback
type recovery
First thing I'd do is - with outlook closed, copy all the email folders -
complete with the non .dbx files onto a pair of DVD+/-R - duplex copy just
in case..
Other - considerations - any other email (browsers) - such as Outlook that
may have converted the OE data over to their own files (e.g. .pst) - that
may then have been used as a source for a new/re-instated OE profile
