One Christmas I got a StompIt kit so that I could apply labels on CDs
& I still have half the labels left as I can't find the time for that
stuff so I just write on the disks with a sharpie &
clipped
I noticed certain types of CD-R disks had almost nothing holding
the dye layer on (years ago). This is the side where their printing is,
and where you would paste a paper label...
Solid white factory printed ones (& not printable) Memorex ones
come to mind most... ... (White surface sort of slightly? glossy...)
The bad news was, I bought one of these things and paper labels
too, and got stuck with all mine, (pun intended...)
The best part was, later I heard lots of places say to NOT use
them for various reasons, including what I noticed about mine...
OTOH, DVDs are MUCH more protected on the label side,
(an entire layer of plastic), so "only" some of the old concerns
still ring true... Out of balance and falling off are ones I remember
hearing about, but I opted out early, and never had problems...
Old habits die hard, so I use my sharpie still... Too bad it gives me
a bloody nose. (That is a personal problem...)
