That article is heavily biased against other anti-virus vendors not to mention the freeware anti-virus products as well such as AVG and the like. It favors McAfee and it sounds like a hard sell of McAfee advertising its products.
Its conslusions I find are bogus especially the analysis of Windows CrashGuard it states that it crashes but does not mention which products or under what circumstances or programs besides malicious code which causes the crash. Sure it says that it's thankfull that users have a choice between Symantec, check Point but never goes far beyond the others and doesn't even bother to look at all at the many freeware alternatives. Instead what we get is a Microsoft-bashing contest that McAfee is saying "My antivirus software is better than Microsoft's" mentality. To add insult to injury it didn't even bother look to at Windows Defender Microsoft's own anti-virus software which is free to download and is a very good antivirus program at that. It even detects malware and other eTrojans that even McAfee and Symantec couldn't detect. I could not believe this especially when the article was written by a chief scientist at McAfee. A scientist of what? It doen't mention what type of scientist below his photo on the left corner of the page. With this I have to be very skeptical about his creditials and if he REALLY is a chief scientist at that. What does a chief scientist do? I don't know and niether would anyone who's read the article. IMHO I just can't go by at whats been said face at value that just becuase a person who's or claims to be a chief scientist says that Microsoft is wrong on security when a lot of holes have been punched in this article. Remmember this just becuase its on the net and written by a person who maybe what he isn't, maybe and isn't actually true. I'll just chalk this article up as a vailed attempt to push and sell McAfee products to meet its bottom line. In Fact he sounded more like a Marketing exec than a chief scientist to me and who know maybe he is. Nice try McAfee but I'm not sold one bit.
