Hi, folks --
The miserable McAfee Security Center that came with my last Dell is finally
running out. I can't wait to get rid of their firewall and returning to
ZoneAlarm. I used the free version for many years with no problem. But now
that it's back on the computer I'm having problems. I can't get onto to
some of the sites I need (I can get onto most, though). I believe it may
have to do with the ads the sites are running, but that's a guess, and I
don't know what to do to change it. I can't find any controls for ad
blocking or cookies on the free version. Putting the sites into the trusted
zone doesn't help. Ken has ZA on his computer, and I can access the
troublesome sites just fine there. Simply unloading ZA doesn't help, and
neither does turning the Internet setting to OFF. But when I uninstall ZA
completely everything is fine. I also tried turning off the ad blocker in
Firefox, but that didn't help either.
Examples of the sites that don't work:
www.washingtonpost.com (but www.nyt.com does work)
www.time.com
www.cqpolitics.com
Can anyone tell me what this is about? And how to fix it?
Running WinXP SP2 and free ZoneAlarm with Firefox. Same problem with IE,
too.
Many thanks --
-- Eve
