I had trouble earlier this month after replacing a seeminly dying battery
but now I am trouble free thanks to clean living and world peace. I start
ed
to teouble shoot with just the new battery, the agp card and the monitor
plugged in with no ram and no pci cards and with the ide channels pulled.
On
startup I saw nothing on the screen so I guess you need ram for that : )
but
I did hear some beeps which I was not getting before. I should mention th
at
I needed a crow bar to remove the ram and a series of levers and pulleys
to
extradite the pci cards so I am not convinced that they were the problem
and
prior to all this when I was initially trouble shooting I quadrupled chec
k
to make sure that all the connections to and from the MB were tight and
secure. Long story short I started to add a stick of ram at a time and th
en
the cards and the ide channels and everything came up kosher. Here is wha
t I
think happened. After running almost 24/ 7 for the past 6 plus years my P
C
finally finished downloading all of the porn on the Internet and "mission
accomplished" was at a loss as to what to do next and in a moment of self
preservation just shut itself off until sensing that I was in a panic cam
e
back to life. Thanks to all who made suggestions.
