Probably in the registry somewhere I'd guess., Where??? <shrug> > chasing down a bunch of netadmins and getting them to re-WEP my new card re-WEP the card, that makes no sense whatsoever. To connect to a wireless network, you generally need 3 pieces of info: 1) SSID or network name 2) Security type: wep, wpa etc 3) Security Key: wep, wpa etc > [and the annoyance that if that card died and I had to buy a new one, I'd > have to go through all of it AGAIN]]. There is a simple solution to this, ask the admins to give you the security key. > [btw, I'm not sure how it works for the rest of you, but when I got auths > for the six or seven nets I have in my old wireless card, I *never* had > the actual WEP key: the admins told me the SSID, I typed it in and then > *they* put the WEP key in.. This is a bit old, but should get you started http://www.its.caltech.edu/~thanne/wireless.htm Interestingly enough, the site above mentions that some cards DO store the wep key on the card... Some others http://www.netstumbler.org/archive/index.php/t-10678.html Googling on utilities to get the wep key from the registry only turn up a few options from questionable sites.. Probably making use of Sysinternals' Regmon before inserting your wifi nic would give you the answer to where the data is stored in the registry. -- Harondel J.
