My daughter has a laptop she uses at home and college. It is set up to
obtain IP and DNS automatically. She used it all summer at home on both
wired and wireless connections. Moving to college it worked on the wired
network without issue. She recently connected to a wireless access point at
school for the first time, and now when she has problems connecting to the
internet through own home wired and wireless networks. She can access the
local computers, just not the internet.

On a WAG, I manually entered the DNS service addresses and now it works.
Since the system is set up to obtain the DNS automatically, why is it
seemingly unable to find it at home? Is there something that the wireless
network at school changed? She said that all she had to do was enter her
student net id after opening IE to access the internet on the school
wireless.

Any solutions other than changing the DNS between the two systems?

TIA
