I am quoting this report from a beta tester newsgroup: >"Basically, the cause of your problem is that Outlook Express does not ship > with any proofing tools. In the past, it used the proofing tools included > in Office. Office 2007 ships with a new version of the proofing tools with > which OE is not compatible (the new proofing tools are compatible with > Windows Mail on Vista). So if the only version of Office installed is > Office 2007, OE loses proofing capability. > > The workaround is to install the Proofing Tools from one of the Office 2003 > or earlier products. > > ...see here http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/11/13/80 > Look under "After installing Office 2007 RTM, you don't have English as a > choice of language in the spell checker of Outlook Express and potentially > other programs."
Another workaround is to use one of the free standalone dictionaries which are compatible with OE: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2952 Or upgrade to Vista. Incidentally, all the Vista beta testers are busy downloading their free Vista RTM copy this evening. It should be on MSDN by no later than tomorrow, if it isn't there already.
