Linux 2.4 is quite stable for most people.  And it will be officially
released soon.  I'd rather be on 2.4 right now, due to better hardware
support for usb, in particular.  As I said win4lin (and vmware too, I
guess) are the only things really keeping me from running 2.4 all the
time.

Nope.  The drivers are made for 2.4, and won't compile under 2.2.  There
are some differences (advances) in the scsi handling code

We'll have to deal with this eventually, anyway.  I imaging by next summer
all distros will be shipping 2.4. There will probably be a push to 2.4 in
the coming months.  Being conservative isn't that bad, though.  I can
wait.
