Hello,
You can access com ports under Windows via Win4Lin. We are working on
making an FAQ for
doing so. In the meantime, this is pretty much the information straight
from the current
FAQ revision.
*****
In order to setup Communications (COM ) ports under Win4Lin, you first
need to setup the device in
your personal Win4Lin setup:
1) Switch to your root user:
su root
And run winsetup:
winsetup &
2) In the menu, choose System-Wide Win4Lin Administration and click OK.
3) In the sub-menu, choose View/Create/Modify Device Definitions.
4) Choose the COM 1 tab from the tab bar
5) Use the drop-down menu to set the Usable field to "All".
6) Close all windows and Exit winsetup.
7) Now, logout of your root user:
exit
8) And go to your normal user winsetup:
winsetup &
9) In the menu choose Personal Win4Lin session configuration: win
10) Choose the Devices tab in the tab bar
11) Under the COM 1 field, choose Serial Attach COM 1 from pull-down
menu.
12) Click Save, then click Exit.
Here are the following instructions for setting up the COM port in
Windows.
1) From "Control Panel" start "Add new Hardware".
2) Say "No" when Hardware Wizard asks if Windows should search for new
Hardware.
3) Choose "Ports (COM & LPT)" from the Hardware Types list.
4) Choose "(Standard port types)" from the Manufacturers list.
5) Choose "Communications Port " from the Models list.
6) Check that the IRQ and IO settings are the correct ones (IRQ 4,
3F8-377 for COM 1; IRQ3 2F8-2FF
for COM 2)
(If they are incorrect they need to be changed later through the device
manager)
This should help you attaching Serial devices under Win4Lin.
