Hi,
I was having the same problem described in some posts on the win4lin-users
mailing list when I was trying to change my win4lin installation to use
Windows98SE instead of my older Windows98. For details see

I discovered one trick to get past the Error 24 situation and the detecting of
bios on the virtual machine... that is to exchange the setup.exe file in the
win98 directory on the cdrom, with the setup.exe from the earlier version
of windows98 (of course the earlier windows 98 cd I was using was not an OEM
security-encumbered version). This might work for some people...
