I have win4lin 2.0 on Mandrake 7.2, patched the standard 2.2.17 kernel, not
the Mandrake one with Win98SE installed. I can't use any non-US keyboard
layout in Win98. When I try to set the keyboard in windows control panel I
get the message "windows could not change the default language because it
does not match the character set (code page)...". The keyboard layouc can be
however selected from the tray icon, yet it does not work - the alt_gr-letter
combinations that are supposed to send accented characters send regular us
ascii ones instead. I tried changing the locale settings for win4lin but
nothing helped. It works on a "normal" win98 machine though.
There is a related problem with displaing the accented characters from the
central european set in MS Office 2000. I get empty boxes displayed instead,
yet they print correctly.
