Is it really necessary to resize the Windows rez?  How about just the IE
window?  You can enter this into the location bar to test it out;

javascript:resizeTo(640,480);

simply enter the rez you want like the mentioned 640x1024 - just be sure
that the Windows rez is higher than the highest rez you want to specify
so's it'll fit into the window.  You can save a series of these commands
as Favorites (or even bookmarks in netscape) to make it just a click
away to test a specific rez.
