I've downloaded and installed Win4Lin ****Multi-user 2.0 beta****. I got as far as stage 3: installing the core windows system when I ran into problems. I am using Mandrake 6.1, kernel 2.2.13-7. From "winsetup &", I selected "System-Wide Win4Lin Administration, " then "Load Windows CD." So far so good, the CDROM spins and select win9x installer. Then two problems: 1. The "Loading Window CD" window appears and start displaying ***black stripes*** where instructions and outputs are supposed to be... After a while, I found a quick and dirty solution. I used an xterm window and dragged it over the black stripes, line by line. This way I was at least able to read what the computer was trying to say and wanted me to do. 2. From this point on I was able to attempt installing the windows98 CD. But the fat lady didnot sing yet.... After the computer detected the win98 CD and I inserted the win98 start-up diskette, I got this error: grep: /ver/win4lin/tmp/user_flop: Invalid argument This doesnot appear to be a boot floppy Cannot continue Unable to continue install You must havew a valid DOS boot floppy before you can again try to install the DOS from the windows CD or boot drive. DOS 7 installation failed Press return to continue.... _______________________________________________ Win4Lin-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.netraverse.com/mailman/listinfo/win4lin-users
