At some point, while fighting my non-working epson printer (which was
resolved by amanda's suggested change to 'exec lpr ...'), my cdrom stopped
working. e.g. any attempt to open the cdrom icon failed with a "device not
ready" error. I foolishly removed the cdrom and merge block driver via the
System control panel applet, but on reboot, it doesn't seem to be
auto-detecting the cdrom device. Attempts to add it manually haven't
worked, since I can't seem to find the driver for the device (the Merge
block device adds fine, but I end up with an "Other" device with no driver
installed). I hope I don't need to reinstall windows to fix this?
