I had exactly the same problem. I booted back into the old kernel and copy the win98 directory into the tmp directory, booted back into the WIN4LIN kernel and proceeded with the installation. Afterwards I still wasn't ableto read from a CD. So I read the FAQs on the Netraverse web site. The answer or me was to add the hdc=ide-scsi line to the lilo.conf (I have cd burner) and turn off Supermount. From the Mandrake web site I found that I had to delete the cdrom from the dev directory and then link scd0 to cdrom. After that everything works like a charm. You could also email the Tech Support, they are fantastic! Helped me with all sorts of problems (I'm a newbie to Linux and was generally screwing things up).
