    Wrong. XCOPY.EXE and XCOPY32.EXE expect XCOPY32.MOD
to be in the same directory as they are.

I can I give the command

        C:\windows\command\xcopy

anywhere and it works fine, which means there must be another
xcopy.exe sitting in a directory that is referenced earlier on PATH than
c:\windows\command and that does not contain xcopy32.mod.

Bingo. The Win4Lin directory J:\dos, which appears on PATH
before my c:\windows\command directory, contained a copy of xcopy.exe
and xcopy32.exe but not xcopy32mod.

Which brings me to my next questions.

Is there any reason why J:\dos has to be on my Win4Lin 'win' PATH?

Also, my \windows\command directory contains a few files, namely,

bootdisk.bat
cscript.exe
cvt.exe
drvspace.bin
iextract.exe
keybrd3.sys
keybrd4.sys
scandisk.exe
scanreg.exe
sulfnbk.exe

that are not in J:\dos. Should I leave them where they are
or should I delete (hide) them?

  Thank you.
    BillH
