Ok, let's see if I can make sense. I presume you are running a 2.4.x
kernel which you built. The installer will detect it's not Win4Lin enabled
and won't know which kernel should go there, hence you get the message
about not running a supported kernel. If you patch your kernel to support
win4lin and successfully boot it, the installer *should* detect your kernel is
win4lin enabled and proceed with the installation. The installer will download
it's files to /var/win4lin/installer_tmp/.
If you are finding this is not the case, please let me know.
You are correct the version you get from the web site is only the installer,
and a generic evaluation license code for you to enter during the installation.
The installer is in a tarball, which includes an INSTALL.txt file. This is
the only
documentation that accompanies the installer.
