The easiest way to do it is to get the devel cvs tree from sgi. That's the
2.4.5 code merge. Then patch that with w4l, and it's schweeeet!!  I once
tried patching the 2.4.4 and 2.4.5 series with older patches. No go on
that front for sure. There are now 2.4.5 patches out so if you want to
just make yourself a rolled kernel you now can natively, instead of old
ports.
