It's only a waste of time, because Win4Lin 2.0.2 should not work on a
Red Hat 7.1 system. 7.1 uses a 2.4.2 kernel. The ncurses errors you see
were fairly common on Win4Lin 2.0.x and Red Hat 7.0.
I took a quick glance at your support incident. I'll see if I can touch on
the second item you report.
I would propose two paths. The path you take depends on how much
information you want to collect for me. The first method I would propose
would be to go through the installer and after you receive the general
cdrom error is to manually mount the windows cd someplace. I'd use a
different mount point than /mnt/cdrom. Then change the source from
/dev/cdrom to the mount point you created. Note: you will need your boot
floppy this way. Do you have the same problems?
Second option I would propose here is to manually load the windows cd via
the loadwindowsCD command, executed as root. This does the same thing the
installer is trying to do. But it helps narrow down the problem to
installer, cd, cdrom, etc. If this is successful, you can continue with the
manual and run win4lin-install as a non root user to do the personal
windows install.
That would be my take on the situation, but you'll get an answer from
support sometime tomorrow (or later today as it turns out in my timezone).

Mike
