Hello List System is Mandrake 8.0 on K6 behind 486 firewall running RoadRunner. Installed Win95 rather easily, connected to internet to download Opera and found the mail list posting regarding getting Windoze screen to full size. Lovely! This is a combination that Vmware does not run. 2 problems: First- after installing external modem on com4, diagnostics report that 'port can't be opened'. Device Manager reports all devices as working and no conflicts. Second- Installed PcAnywhere and took the reboot option prior to configuring for TCP/IP connection. Had set the NIC address to 192.168.0.52 and was able to ping gateway at 192.168.0.1 and could ping the NIC from another Windoze machine. Win95 never returned from the reboot. The first response to starting from the Win4Lin Desktop icon was "protection error. you need to reboot the machine. It is safe to reboot". Is there any way to recover my Win95 installation? Will the evaluation license allow me to install on another machine? Install another copy of Win95 under a different user? Install Win98 in addition to Win95.
