That's interesting. Perhaps the misconfiguerd apm module is the reason why I 
got problems on my notebook with power control. I have installed SuSE 7.1 
with standard kernel which worked fine before I installed win4lin 3.0. Now, 
if  I do cpu intensive work, the fan is starting but doesn't go down again, 
even if I don't do anything for a while.
I had similar problems with previous linux-versions (RedHat 6.2), but they 
were fixed since kernel 2.2.16 (I think). (By the way my notbook is a 
Thinkpad 390x).
