you presumably have and use the slack7.x rpm manager? - I usually steer
clear.
and so on slack 4 (see the original FAQ) you'll have to go via rpm2tgz
I think because there isn't an rpm manager compiled for libc5

yes - I'm describing an UPGRADE route of course, when these standard
fiddles have already been got around.
