I had the reboot cycle as well when I applied the patch to my existing
source tree and 'make oldconfig; make dep; make' without 'make mrproper'
first...

Hmmm, you use the 2.4.4 patch on 2.4.5.

I reconfigured the patches. They patch clean.
But irrespective to how I reconfigure. I just cannot boot it, I simply
go into a loop when starting up my machine. Initialising kernel .......
reboot. I have used the same config, without the patch, no problems.
