If I boot the win4lin kernel (the 2.4.2 redhat 7.1 kernel), and then try to shutdown the system (even if I never start a win or dos session) I get these messages on the console: -snip- unmouting file systems... unmounting proc filesystem... halting... unregister_netdevice: waiting for eth0 to become free. Usage count =3 unregister_netdevice: waiting for eth0 to become free. Usage count =3 unregister_netdevice: waiting for eth0 to become free. Usage count =3 ... The last message repeats continuously, and the system never finishes shutting down. In my case, shutdown gets stuck after the filesystems are unmounted, so at least I don't need to fsck at the next startup, but this is really annoying. This is a redat 7.1 system (dell inspiron 3200 laptop), the pcmcia device is a "xircom realport ethernet 10/100 + modem 56" (model REM56G0-100). This problem persists even if I manually kill the vnetd process, and remove all modules that might be related to win4lin. This problem appeared as soon as I ugraded from win4lin ver 1.0 to ver 3.0. I do not have this problem with any of the other kernels I boot with (including 2.2.16, 2.4.0, and custom and stock redhat 2.4.2 kernels). If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really like to hear them. -- Larry Grover, PhD Assoc Prof of Physiology Marshall Univ Sch of Med _______________________________________________ Win4Lin-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.netraverse.com/mailman/listinfo/win4lin-users
