Hi,

Just wanted to make a brief report that libsafe-2.0-2mdk.i585.rpm caused me
all kinds of fits with Win4Lin on the install. It took me some time to
figure it out, but when I removed it Win4Lin 3.0 installed and now operates
flawlessly.

The symptoms I fought were during the second stage of the install,
win4lin-install kept reporting either it was unable to create directories
or that it couldn't find some file [my memory blurs here, but this problem
has been previously reported on this list]. On my trail for a solution I
noted that an ldd /opt/win4lin/dfmerge reported back a linking with
libsafe. At first I was going to do an rpm -e to remove it and find out
what depended on it. Nothing did. The win4lin-install then completed and
I decided not to reinstall it.

I understand (vaguely) what libsafe is supposed to do. Does anyone know of
any harm running without it or any (major) benefit of running with it?

Just curious,
David Schaub
