you can use 'ifconfig <interface (eth0)>' to get the MAC address for
your real NIC card in linux, and start-> run -> winipcfg in windows to
get the MAC address for the Merge NIC in windows.
to manually set the vnet/merge MAC address, edit the /etc/default/merge
file and change the MERGE_VNET_MACRANGE_START and _END lines from 'auto'
to the MAC address you wish to use (use the first 4 pairs from your ethX
in linux and just change the last 2 pair of numbers). example - linux
MAC = 00:A0:CC:E8:XX:YY
MERGE_VNET_MACRANGE_START=00:A0:CC:E8:XX:00
MERGE_VNET_MACRANGE_END=00:A0:CC:E8:XX:02
save the merge file, and open win4lin .. if you run winipcfg you should
now see a MAC address that falls withing the macrange settings - this
should now be different mac address from your linux mac address which is
all that matters. you can also (I think) use the same mac address for
both the start and end addresses in the merge file to match the address
that your license is for (providing that its a different address from
the linux ethernet mac address).
