I kind of stumbled my way through it, but I'll try to
explain:

You can use IP numbers, or IP names if they are explicitly
defined somewhere or DNS is working, I suppose. In my case,
I've only done this on my home machine, where I'm using a
private IP range of numbers on my home network, and I have
all of the machines (including the win4lin "machine")
defined in my /etc/hosts file.

In each of the mpcb applications, you have a Server tab and
a client tab. On the Server tab, click the box to enable a
server on that machine, then enter the name of the other
machine as an accepted client. On the client tab, enter
that machine's name (the one you're working on now) in the
bottom box and then click "Append" (or "Add" in the Windows
app). You do this on both machines' mpcb program. The
start up both mpcb programs.

When I was testing this, I found that the first time I try
to paste I have to first click on the mpcb program and
select the machine whose clipboard I am copying. Then I did
a paste, and it worked.

I hope this helps.
