: I've recently installed WIn4Lin 3 on a RedHat 7.1 system. Its been
: working fine for weeks, but now, when I launch Win4Lin,
: windows reports
: that the Merge NIC card is not working correctly and Networking is
: disabled in Windows 98.
:
: I've had a look at all the settings etc, and can find
: nothing wrong - I
: have reinstalled Win98 to no avail. Do I need to remove
: everything and
: reinstall Win4Lin or is there a way out of this.

You don't say what type of system you're running on and what type of
NIC supports eth0. For example, I am running RH7.1 on a Sony VAIO
PCG-490K and I use a 3Com 3c589 PCMCIA card for my network support.

The reason that is important is that error message appears on my
laptop when the PCMCIA card is not installed. RH7.1 doesn't care about
it but Win4Lin does and can't start the virtual networking interfaces
up properly apparently if eth0 is not up and running first.

I'm not sure the system information is relevant as its all installed
fine under Linux and there haven't been any problems until now. Its a
home built system with a Netgear FA310 network card.

Linux can see the network fine and Win4Lin has always been ok - there
have been no system changes over night and the error appeared out of the
blue with no other problems on the system.
