Gordon there's nothing really exciting about 7.5.4.1 unlike the fantastic Gw Connect 2.0. I am a full time NVDA user but do have a full version of Window-Eyes because I like the new user interface and also wanted it for its new Remote Assistance feature which could come in handy one day. Yes there is JAWS Tandem but the more options the better I say. But no, there's nothing really special from 7.5.2 to even 7.5.4.1. I live and hope that the next major release of Window-Eyes will have the browse mode re-write that everyone keeps talking about but Gw Micro clearly are keeping their fists tight on that one. Keep you posted.

Hi all

By now I would presume that several members are using or have used Window-Eyes
7.5.4.1 as opposed to 7.5.2, 7.5.3 or 7.5.4. Owing to my own circumstances
which I won't discuss here, I wasn't able to try anything later than 7.5.2
which is still installed on 2 of my machines. In fact, I have the native 7.5
installation somewhere on a virtual machine. Anyway, my question is how do
others find Window-Eyes 7.5.4.1 in comparison to earlier 7.5.x releases?

Personally I've always been very disappointed with what I've seen in version
7.5.whatever and I'm doubtful that I'll have much cause to change my mind with
the release of 7.5.4.1. I am, however, quite a long way out of date when it
comes to information about what's happening in the GW Micro camp. In fact, I
didn't even know about the new Skype Connect utility until Dane, I think it
was, mentioned it to Lynne. So, what's the general consensus of opinion
regarding this release? Have GW Micro's engineers sorted out the accessibility
problems they introduced with the 7.5 release? How, using the latest versions
of all three applications, does Window-Eyes 7.4.1 compare with Jaws for Windows
version 13.whatever they're up too now, and NVDA version whatever the latest
is, (including their current beta)?

Information would be very welcome. I plan to try NVDA again when I get around
to it. I had seriously considered dropping my old prejudice and trying Jaws
again after all these years. My prejudice was never against the product
itself. Rather,it was the company and its UK dealership who between them sold
me a license for Jaws and then between them resold my serial number, including
my paid-for SMA to another customer. Despite my proving that I'd purchased the
licence legitimately, they refused point blank to either refund my not
inconsiderable amount of money, or give me a replacement serial number and SMA.
Just to rub salt in, Sight And Sound even sent me a notice after one year
telling me that my SMA was about to expire and inviting me to renew it. The
new owners of my serial number undoubtedly got the same notice, but they had
received my SMA items for free, in effect.

That's why I've always been prejudiced agains Freedom Scientific and Jaws would
have to be world class, unbeatable, not to mention good value for money in
order for me to give them more money. With the innovations taking place on the
NVDA platform recently, I confess that I find it really difficult to justify
yet another purchase on the Windows side of accessibility. I think I'd rather
donate a few quid to the developers of NVDA.

OK, back to my original question. What's so "cool", to use GW's description,
about Window-Eyes 7.5.4.1?

Gordon
