Hello all
I was able to download the upgrade to Window-Eyes 8. This is because I
purchased an Sma through Computer Room Services. Yes I think it's wrong
for Gw Micro not to allow us to purchase directly from them, at least
online, but I have always been dealing with Uk dealers personally so
it's fine by me and they can do what they like as far as I am concerned.
I can confirm that Nvda works very well under Windows 8, including the
so called Metro interface. I am 50 50 in whether to upgrade or not. I
like Windows 8, but I also like Windows 7. Better decide before the end
of January if I am to take advantage of the offer grin.
Hope this helps.
Chris.

Hello everybody
Firstly, has anybody tried Window-Eyes version 8.0? I ask because each time we run that
screen-reader under Windows 7 64-bit, we get a prompt to upgrade. That said, when I go to
the website with the intentions of buying the upgrade, I am pointed to the international
"Find a dealer" page. So it would appear that GW Micro is still persisting with
the totally discriminatory policy of not permitting non-US customers who, it would seem,
do not matter to GW Micro, to purchase online as it is possible for US based customers to
do.
Also, I note that the price has been raised from $175.00 to $199.00 US Dollars
for the upgrade. I wonder how GW Micro can possibly get away with that when
many of their customers are drifting away in favour of the fee and, I am given
to understand, now very useable NVDA which seems to function with most
applications.
There is one reason and one reason only that we considered upgrading
Window-Eyes. Version 7.x and below are not compatible with Windows 8 which we
have already bought an upgrade key for, and which we would quite like to
install when all of our apps become compatible. I am not sure, and doubtless
there will be somebody on list who can reassure me one way or the other here,
whether NVDA is compatible with Windows 8 yet. I'm sure I could find out on
their website.
In any event, I very much welcome your comment regarding any aspect of this
unfortunately waffly post.
Lynne
