The series of Acer computers you're talking about is supposed to be amongst the Better models of Netbook as is the Asus EEEPC models.
I too have a hearing impairment and I'm glad you mentioned this because it allows me to mention something I forgot to in my previous message, all the Asus computers I've seen thus far have their speakers mounted near the bottom of the machine thus if you want reasonable sound then you have to place the machines on a table or desk as having a machine on your lap would naturally muffle any sound produced. Having said all that however - once the computer is sitting on a desk - the sound is surprisingly good given the size of the little speakers on the bottoms of the machine. And a final note on all of this, surprisingly the older 1 of the 2 EEEPC machines I have has slightly better sound than does the newer 1005 model. Nothing wrong whatever with using a Netbook for taking notes, that's one of the primary tasks the original Netbooks were designed to perform anyway <smile>. Thinking about this topic as I write, it surprises and amazes me just how far Netbooks have come since the release of the original Asus EEEPC, that machine ran LYNUX and only had 4GB OF RAM as I remember. Like your Acer computers, both of mine have 160GB drives though I'm seriously tempted to look at upgrading these drives, one of the people I know is using a 500GB drive in his 1004 model.
