We have the Palmbook machines you're dreaming about already, I mentioned the Ultrabook machines which run Windows 7 and 8 though they're rather expensive at this time, prices I'm sure will fall.
The main reason I'm told as to why these things are so expensive is because they use SSD drives rather than hard drives.
