Hi everyone! I've decided to upgrade my Windows Desktop PC a little, one of the most significant upgrades I plan to make is to upgrade the main drive in the system to a SSD unit.
To avoid any fuss or pain, I plan to use a Drive Cloner I bought from the local computer shop, these devices copy sector by sector from 1 drive to another but I think I may run into a small problem. The main drive I'll be upgrading from - source drive - is 1TB in size whereas the SSD drive - Target Drive - is only 128GB in size. The Source drive doesn't contain its full compliment of data, I deleted all unwanted files to bring the total size of data held to 17GB so that data would fit on the target drive easily. So I'm wondering - having deleted all unwanted files - will it just be a simple operation of copying sector by sector from source to target drive or am I going to have to do some fiddling with the source drive, say define a 128GB boot partition rather than the 1TB boot partition currently defined. ********** Dane Trethowan Skype: grtdane12 Phone +61390058589 fax +61397437954 SMS +61400494862 msn: [email protected] ======================================= To post to this group, please send your message to: [email protected] The Windows-Access E-Mail forum is guaranteed malware, spyware, Trojan, virus and worm-free To modify your subscription options, please visit your personalise subscriber options page, located at http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/windows-access You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Windows-Access forum at either of the following websites: http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/windows-access/index.html Or: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]> you may also subscribe to this list via RSS.
