Well all I can say is that it's good if, and it's a big if, they've finally got their act together. I'll wait and see if there are others who have formulated the same opinions as yourself. It doesn't look like the download of the trial is too accessible on their website but then again I didn't spend a lot of time there. Too busy, I don't have the time to spend trying things these days although I will try and get around to it at some point. My life is about to get a whole lot busier as well. That said, I know that a lot of people who do use Windows rely on Symantec because for one thing, there are a lot of OEM distributions which ship with it. But time and time again I encounter situations where people are angry because nobody told them in store that they would need to subscribe to all this software on their machines. Many people get a shock because the price they pay for a new laptop is not the end of the road. They have to put hand in pocket several more times before the system is truly up to date and fully functional. That, to my way of thinking, is wrong. But it's how it is these days.
Anyway, good luck with it. On 20 Jan 2013, at 18:25, Dane Trethowan <[email protected]> wrote: Yes, its the complete package, I can certainly confirm that. The "Smart Update" utility is run once the installation is completed though I haven't had the software update itself yet. Unfortunately, it seems that Symantec have really ruined their reputation in the past and its going to be extremely difficult for the company to repair given the negative publicity they have awarded themselves - the content of private eMail on this topic leads me to believe this so i'm not generalising in any way -. The second problem Symantec has is an enormous field of competition out there, look at such product such as Tune-Up Utilities, CCleaner and many more. ======================================= To post to this group, please send your message to: [email protected] The Windows-Access E-Mail forum is guaranteed malware, spyware, Trojan, virus and worm-free To modify your subscription options, please visit your personalise subscriber options page, located at http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/mailman/listinfo/windows-access You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Windows-Access forum at either of the following websites: http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/windows-access/index.html Or: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]> you may also subscribe to this list via RSS.
