Goldwave has a Sister program called Multiquence, this software provides a 
template - for want of a better description - to Goldwave to allow the 
recording and manipulation of multiple tracks in conjunction with Goldwave - 
you record and layout your tracks with Multiqunece and edit them where 
appropriate with Goldwave -.

I did try the Multiqunece software some time ago and found it to be reasonably 
accessible, certainly cheap enough to buy for $35.00..

On the other hand, much the same thing can be acoomplished with Reaper in a 
possibly far more accessible environment.
