My remark regarding GW Micro was meant entirely tongue in cheek. But, as it comes around, I don’t suppose they much care what you think either. :)
However, I will make the point that you have the name slightly wrong, according to the review. The name is actually “Socializer”, not “Social-Eyes” which, I believe, the GW Micro people call their FaceBook application. My only objection to this second approach and, of course, this objection is based purely on what I read in the review, is that you are forced to subscribe to their network. So, even though we bought their System Access product outright as a stand-alone product, we could not, had we a mind to do so, subscribe to this one product alone. Of course, it is entirely possible that I got that wrong, but that’s the way I understood things from the review. I don’t honestly see how I could justify paying another 20 quid a month just to unify social networking. I agree that it would be nice to have them all in one application. But the price is just a little too high for me to consider from my own personal perspective. Now, just before anybody jumps on that comment, I’m not saying it’s wrong for anybody else. Everybody should do as they see fit. But I don’t honestly see us subscribing any time soon if it means paying another 20 quid a month. To be equally honest, I really don’t see what all the fuss is about with FaceBook anyway. The web content is pretty awful in my opinion at least from the perspective of a screen-reader user on any platform. I am sure that somebody will come back to that comment and say that there are scripts for Jaws or sets for Window-Eyes, etc. But I don’t think FaceBook is half as interactive, or half as user-friendly as Twitter is, for example. And finally, I would comment that it sometimes isn’t a good idea to put one’s eggs all in the same basket. Break the basket and you invariably break all the eggs as well and end up with a slippery, sticky and smelly mess all over the proverbial floor.;-) For the benefit of those who have their punctuation settings so high that they do not read them, this message contains at least two smily faces to indicate tongue-in-cheek comment.
