Hi,
I am new to wine (although I am a programmer), so the question may seem dumb
for you, but I couldn't find an answer anywhere, and there was no bug of
this sort in the wine bugbase.

I tried running wine on my computer, but it fails miserably for any
application (e.g. regedit.exe) right after startup. The error is something
like:

err:win32:EnterCriticalSection timed out, sleeping 60 sec

then it sleeps for 60 sec., retries a couple of times and finally invokes a
debugger (which eats my whole memory and swap and crashes the X server :).

I tried both a precompiled version and the one I built myself (latest
release).
I am using a nearly "stock" .winerc (copied from the wine.ini, just changed
paths to reflect my system)

My system is RedHat Linux 6.1, but I remember seeing the same thing some
time ago on RH6.0.

Am I doing something stupid, or is it a known problem ?

marcin
