Hi!
During a little flame war is going off in cemw some more thoughts about how we could
make a little progress...
First, nobody likes to spend to much time to write documentation. So if it affords much
work to update a small point in the documentation it won't be done. We need a way
how we can update a small change as easy as possible. What I would suggest is a
additional branche in the cvs containing a simple html tree for documentation. To keep
the additional work as little as possible if would be good if the developers would have
write access to this so updating a detail is as simple as editing the part and hit
commit.
This tree can easely be accessible on winehq too.
I have to admit, I hardly ever use to bugtracker just because I can't use it offline
and I
think the same applys to the documentation. As nice it would to be to have a
web-surface
for the faq to add new entrys I don't think people (in this case the developers) will
keep
using it. I saw more than one try to write a documentation dying....
Last but not least we are steping on eachothers toe if we don't write a minimum of
documenation. One might not know how to set a breakpoint at start of a application
just because he don't spend much work on the debugger, the second one get errors
with the filedialog because some regisrty kys are missing and so on. It's just a waste
of time.
I would convert the current documentation in html, sort the topics, write a first index
and put a additional top ten of questions and answers from cemw and wine-devel
into it if we could agree to do so.
Ciao
Juergen
