The problem is no more buried with your patch than with the existing
code. If it fixes your problem, I don't see why not send it to winehq.
A better fix is not trivial unfortunately (not trivial for me at least)

I managed to extract it so I must be used to Gnu utils now...
For people using Windows mailer, it's necessary to strip the line feeds
since uudecode can't handle them it seems.
