I don't know yet whether it makes sense to maintain a separate discussion and/or repository for this purpose. Seems like it would at least be useful during active initial work and then perhaps phase out.
Sounds like a plan to me.  Hopefully your Wine tree won't drift
out of sync with the main one like so many Linux kernel port trees
do.  Maybe you could use the overlay system, where the only files
in the alternate tree are those that don't exist in the main tree...
