I'm building now wine on Phoebe and test if the workaround will work,
but it will take some time cause the box is only a PII-450.

I recall seeing this trick for getting some Java VM work correctly with Mozilla (in the wrapper script for Moz). The specific JVM version is 1.3.0*. The script is scarce on details, as why or since when.

Could it be the same problem here?
